The beta agreement

What this is

Animister is a free beta test. You can install it from TestFlight on an iPhone and use it with your child for as long as the test runs. We are not charging for it and we are not selling anything inside it.

It is unfinished software. Things will break, films will sometimes come out strange, and features will change between builds. Telling us when that happens is the whole point of the test.

The films are made by AI

The characters and the films are generated by AI models. That means they are approximations: a character may not look quite like the toy, and a scene may do something you did not expect. We filter for content that would not suit a young child, and we would rather hear about anything that slips through than have you assume we already know.

What we handle, and what we take responsibility for

We handle the cut-out objects your child photographs, the films made from them, and an adult email address for the account. The original photographs stay on your phone.

We are responsible for handling that material the way the privacy page describes: keeping it private to your family unless a parent shares it, not publishing it, not selling it, not using it to train models, and deleting it when you ask. If we ever need to change how any of that works, we will say so on this page and in the app before it takes effect.

Your side of it

• An adult holds the account and makes the decisions about sharing.
• Photograph objects — toys, drawings, things your child made. Not other people’s children.
• The films are yours to keep. Please do not pass around a build of the app itself; the TestFlight link is the way in.

Leaving

You can stop at any time, with no notice and no reason. Delete the account from inside the app and the characters, the films and the account record go with it. Removing the app from TestFlight ends your part in the test.

We can also end the beta, or a particular build, at any point — if we do, we will give you a way to download what your family made first.
